It seems opposites really do attract - Greg Mottola, the director of Superbad, one of the filthiest, rudest and funniest comedies in the last few years, returns with Adventureland, a heartwarming, sweet and hilarious coming-of-age comedy. Based on Mottola's own experiences as a teen, the film follows the exploits of James (newcomer Jesse Eisenberg), a recent college graduate forced to take a summer job at Adventureland, a run-down Pittsburgh theme park. James expects it to be horrible, but as the tagline suggests, he couldn't be more wrong, especially after meeting and romancing co-worker Emily (played by Kristen Stewart, who some people might recognise as Bella Swan from a little known film called Twilight). As the summer progresses, James comes to realise that his job at this ramshackle park might just be the best thing that's ever happened to him.
With a killer supporting cast including Ryan Reynolds, Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig, Adventureland promises hilarity, romance, and a stunning recreation of what it's like to be a teenager in the 1980s not seen since the likes of John Hughes. If you've got any fond memories of a summer job, this one's for you.
